Indigenous Plants and Native Uses in the Northeast Look at the plants growing around you: Along Schoolhouse Brook grows a grove of witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) trees that arches over the Nipmuck Trail. You can also find bitternut hickory (Carya Species) trees and nuts all over the ground in the fall, the squirrels don't even usually go for these. Wild Sarsaparilla(Aralia nudicaulis) grows up the slope of the path to the stone foundation. | ||
