Indigenous Plants and Native Uses in the Northeast Look at the plants growing around you: Along the shores and in the standing water of Barrows Pond you can see the brown (or yellow if early season pollen is present) spikes of the cattail (Typha latifolia) plant. There are also a few pond-side stands of bullrush (Scirpus validus) reeds that have a floral spray at the top instead of a spike. | ||
