Indigenous Plants and Native Uses in the Northeast Look at the plants growing around you: There are many moisture loving trees along Barrows Pond Trail. You will find American beech (Fagus grandifolia), white birch (Betula species), trembling aspen (Populus tremuloides), and red osier dogwood (Cornus species) trees dotting the pond-side. Turn your eyes downward and look for the tiny, bristly, prehistoric- looking ground pine (Lycopodium clavatum). | ||
