Indigenous Plants and Native Uses in the Northeast

Look at the plants growing around you:


At the foot bridge over Schoolhouse Brook, look for the tall, showy foliage of green false hellebore (Veratrum viride) in the spring and early summer. Its all gone by August, reduced to a black ooze! This plant loves the muddy banks of wooded streams.

Note: the Parks & Recreation Dept. insists that no plants are disturbed at the Park.
