Indigenous Plants and Native Uses in the Northeast

Look at the plants growing around you:


In the saturated soils along the far edge of the pond you can find the beautiful blue and purple blossoms of BLUE FLAG (Iris versicolor) in late spring. Sweet flag (Acornus calamus) has a cattail-like spike in place of a flower, both should be gathered before they die back in August.

Note: the Parks & Recreation Dept. insists that no plants are disturbed at the Park.
