Indigenous Plants and Native Uses in the Northeast

Look at the plants growing around you:


Along the edges of the clearing here look for the bright red, cone-shaped berry clusters of staghorn sumac (Rhus species) trees. As Juniper Trail widens and enters a section of shady cathedral pines, look for wild strawberry (Fragaria vesca) plants covering the trail's edge, and tiny sweet berrys in June!

Note: the Parks & Recreation Dept. insists that no plants are disturbed at the Park.
