Directions

Best done very early in the morning, in order to be ready for the next day. Soak the salted fillets of sockeye in fresh cold water, change the water every 2 hours for approximately 8 hours, (this process removes most of the salt before consuming).

Following the last soak, boil the sockeye in fresh water for 20 minutes. Once the sockeye is cooked, flake and remove excess bones and skin.

Boil potatoes in a large pot and prepare for mashed potatoes. combine flaked Sockeye and Potatoes and Oolichan grease to complete the hash.

Serve like hashbrowns, with 2-3 eggs, and refried beans.

Note: This is what my family serves to all friends and family for Christmas morning. Thank you Sim'oogit Hlyamwil for passing this on to your family.
